Wandiligong is a tiny heritage village 4 km south of Bright along the Morses Creek valley, and one of the best-preserved gold rush settlements in northeast Victoria. The village has a handful of historic timber buildings — a pub, a hall, a few cottages — surrounded by old orchards and walnut trees that turn vivid yellow in autumn. It functions as a quiet counterpoint to Bright's seasonal bustle.
The village is most easily reached on foot via the Canyon Walk, which follows the creek from Bright through the gorge and emerges into the open valley near Wandiligong. The walk takes about 1.5–2 hours one way. The Wandiligong community garden and the ornamental maple trees along the main lane are the main draws once you arrive. There's a small general store but services are minimal — bring your own supplies.
