Faversham House

Faversham House is a substantial heritage-listed residence overlooking Avon Terrace from the ridge above the main street. Built in the mid-19th century and expanded over subsequent decades, it is one of the finest surviving colonial residences in the Avon Valley — a grand house of rendered limestone with verandahs and gardens that would not have been out of place in the English countryside its first owners were trying to recreate.

The property has operated as a heritage bed and breakfast, which makes it possible to visit the interior as a guest. Even from the street, the building and its gardens are worth a detour from the main strip.
