The York Town Hall on Avon Terrace is a handsome Federation-era building that serves as a focal point of the streetscape. Built in 1911 at the height of the town's prosperity, it combines red brick, rendered stone dressings, and a prominent corner tower into a confident civic statement. The hall remains in active use for community events, markets, and performances.
The interior retains much of its original character and can be visited when events are not in progress. The building's position at a slight bend in Avon Terrace gives it good visual prominence — it reads as a proper town hall should, announcing itself from both directions.
