Hidden in a former arms depot carved into the Mönchsberg, Magazin is the most adventurous serious restaurant in Salzburg. The single, curved dining room sits inside the cliff, and the cooking is modern Austrian — local trout, mountain herbs, root vegetables — at one Michelin star.
The same building houses a wine cellar with deep verticals of Austrian producers and a casual bistro for lunch. About fifteen minutes' walk from the old town along the river path.
