A paved walking and cycling path runs along the Bosna through the length of Zenica, planted with poplars and birch. It is the locals' main open space — busy in the early evening with families, joggers, and teenagers on bikes — and the easiest way to see the city without the traffic.
The cleaner upper section, south of the centre, eventually leads towards open countryside. The northern end runs past the edge of the steelworks complex, a reminder of why the river had a reputation for pollution for much of the 20th century.
