Former Zenica Synagogue

Early-20th-century Sephardic synagogue, now a cultural centre

The building that served Zenica's small Sephardic Jewish congregation from 1903 to 1941. The community, never large, was destroyed in the Holocaust and the building was repurposed under Yugoslavia. It now houses cultural functions and is undergoing slow restoration.

The exterior carries Moorish revival details — horseshoe arches, a star of David in the gable — that distinguish it from the surrounding plain housing. It is a quiet reminder of the layered communities that made up Ottoman and Habsburg Bosnia.
