Day Trips

Dubrovnik sits near the southern tip of Croatia, close to the borders with Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Elafiti islands are reachable by regular ferry from Gruz harbour, with Lopud the most popular for its sandy beach and 15th-century architecture. The Peljesac peninsula to the north is wine country, known for its robust Dingac and Postup reds. Mostar in Bosnia, with its rebuilt Ottoman bridge, makes a long but rewarding full-day trip. Closer to home, the Arboretum at Trsteno and the medieval salt town of Ston are both easy half-day outings.
