Den Permanente is a historic bathing facility on the coast south of Aarhus harbour, originally built in 1935 and now a listed building. The wooden piers extend out into the sea, with separate bathing areas, diving boards, and changing rooms. In summer it fills with locals — families, swimmers, and people who simply come to sit on the wooden decking and watch the water.
The facility was closed for years and extensively restored; it reopened and has become one of the best-loved outdoor summer destinations in Aarhus. The beach itself is sandy and the water clean; the views back toward the harbour and the city skyline are good. Reachable by bike from the centre in about fifteen minutes.
