Eating Out

Tórshavn punches well above its weight for food. The city has two Michelin-starred restaurants — Koks (now operating from a remote farmhouse outside town when in season) and Ræst — both of which serve seriously ambitious takes on traditional Faroese cooking, including the famously divisive ræst (fermented) meat and fish. For more everyday eating, the harbour and the streets just behind Vaglið are lined with cafés, fish restaurants, and a handful of international options.

Expect Scandinavian-level prices. A simple meal will rarely come in under 200 DKK; a tasting menu at one of the top restaurants will run to several thousand.
