Courchevel 1650, officially called Moriond, is the middle of the three main resort villages and the best value of the lot. Accommodation is significantly cheaper than 1850, the village has a relaxed family feel, and a network of chairlifts gives direct access to a quieter sector of the Trois Vallées piste system.
Most of the runs above 1650 face east, so they get the morning sun — handy in cold weather but the snow softens earlier in the day. The village itself has restaurants and a livelier après-ski scene than 1850's polished bars. A good base if you are skiing on a budget and want the same lift pass as the people in fur coats further up the hill.
