Cottbuser Ostsee is a landscape in transition: a former open-cast lignite mine being turned into a broad lake on the eastern edge of Cottbus. It is not yet an old, settled resort, and that unfinished quality is part of what makes it interesting.
For travellers, it works as a cycling or walking excursion rather than a classic beach day. The lake shows how Lusatia is trying to remake its mining geography, and it pairs well with other Cottbus stops that speak to industry, landscape, and reinvention.
