The Allerpark is Wolfsburg's main outdoor leisure area, a broad green strip along the Aller river that includes the man-made Allersee, walking and cycling paths, an open-air pool, an ice rink, a sauna complex, and the city's main football stadium. In summer the lake fills up with swimmers and small sailboats.
It is an easy ten-minute drive or fifteen-minute bus ride from the centre and works well as half-day break from the museums. Locals tend to come here in the evening; if you are travelling with children, a few hours on the Allersee beach can save a day.
