Lingnerschloss is one of the three Elbe castles on the slopes above Dresden, and its appeal is as much about setting as architecture. The villa looks over the river from a terrace landscape that places Dresden's grandeur in a broader, greener frame.
It is a secondary sight compared with the Zwinger, Residenzschloss, and the major galleries, but it is a good choice when you want to get out of the old-town circuit. Combine it with the neighbouring Elbe castles or a riverside walk for a different view of the city.
