Rogoi Castle

Byzantine hilltop fortress near Arta, overlooking the Louros river plain.

Rogoi Castle is a ruined Byzantine fortress set on older ground near the Louros River, close enough to Arta to work as a compact excursion. Its walls, gates, and hilltop position tell a broader Epirus story than the better-known bridge and town castle alone.

The site is rougher and quieter than Arta's central monuments, so it suits travellers who like ruins with landscape around them. Bring water, wear decent shoes, and combine it with other nearby archaeological stops rather than expecting a staffed museum experience.
