The Cyclopean Wall near Pythagoreio is one of the quieter pieces of ancient Samos, overshadowed by the Heraion and the Tunnel of Eupalinos but still worth noticing. Its heavy masonry helps show how extensive the ancient city’s defences and infrastructure once were.
Come while exploring Pythagoreio’s archaeological area rather than as a separate island excursion. The wall is most rewarding if you already have the broader UNESCO landscape in mind: harbour, tunnel, sanctuary, and fortified city all working together.
