St James's Church (Szent Jakab-templom) is the older of the two main churches on Jurisics tér, with origins in the 13th century. The current structure is largely Gothic, with subsequent baroque additions to the interior. The church is notable for its medieval frescoes, some of which survived the Ottoman-era occupation of the region and the later baroque renovations. The exterior is plain and whitewashed; the interior is more rewarding than a passing glance would suggest. St James's is the parish church of the old town and still holds regular services.
