The Complesso Monumentale San Pietro is a 16th-century convent on the east side of the old town that now serves as the Civico Museo of Marsala. Its core collection covers two stories the city likes to tell about itself: the Garibaldian campaign of 1860 (uniforms, letters, weapons, the flag the Thousand carried ashore) and the Marsala wine trade.
The complex also includes a small archaeological section, a children's section on the history of toys, and a quiet cloister that is sometimes used for chamber concerts in summer.
