The Lungomare Boeo runs along the western edge of the old town, looking out at what is — by a few metres — the westernmost point of Sicily. A series of cafés and gelaterias open onto it, and on summer evenings the road is closed to traffic and given over to walkers and skaters.
The sunsets here are the obvious draw: the sun drops cleanly into the Mediterranean with no land in between. From the same stretch you can sometimes see across to the Egadi Islands (Favignana, Levanzo, Marettimo) on clear days.
