Santa Maria dei Miracoli is a Baroque church near the eastern end of Ibla, slightly off the main tourist circuit and often overlooked. It dates from the early 18th century and has a restrained facade compared to the more theatrical churches of the main piazza.
The church is named after a miraculous image of the Virgin that was venerated here before the 1693 earthquake. It is still an active parish church, and if the door is open it is worth stepping inside to see the vaulted interior and the painted panels above the altar.
