San Vito Lo Capo

Sicilian beach town beneath Monte Monaco, known for white sand and the annual Cous Cous Fest.

San Vito Lo Capo has one of the most beautiful beaches in Italy: a wide crescent of white sand with turquoise water, backed by the dramatic Monte Monaco. The town itself is small and low-key, with a grid of streets lined with restaurants and gelaterias. It fills up in summer but remains manageable.

Every September, San Vito hosts the Cous Cous Fest, an international couscous cooking competition that celebrates the town's position at the crossroads of Sicilian and North African culinary traditions. The Zingaro Nature Reserve, one of Sicily's finest coastal walks, begins just south of town.
