St. Meynard's Church stands out in Karosta because it is much newer than the district's military and imperial landmarks. The building began life as the Vatican pavilion at Expo 2000 in Hanover, then was moved to Liepaja and rebuilt here in 2002.
It is not in the city centre, but it makes sense as part of a Karosta visit. The church's unusual origin gives it a different story from the old naval prison, Orthodox cathedral, and other heavy architecture nearby.
