The Arabati Baba Tekke is a Bektashi Sufi lodge set on a hillside above Tetovo, enclosed within a garden of cypresses and old plane trees. Bektashism is a heterodox Sufi order with strong roots across Albania, Macedonia, and Kosovo, blending Islamic, Christian, and pre-Islamic Balkan traditions. This tekke — a place for dervish gatherings and religious retreat — is among the most architecturally complete in the region.
The complex includes a turbeh (mausoleum) for Baba Arabati, a main lodge building with a central fire pit, small prayer rooms, and guest accommodation. The garden is peaceful and the atmosphere contemplative. Visitors are welcome and the resident dervishes will usually show you around if you arrive with respect. This is not a tourist attraction in the conventional sense — it is a living religious community — but it is open and hospitable to curious visitors.
