Tetovo Fortress sits on the slopes above the city, giving Tetovo a rough hilltop counterpoint to the Painted Mosque and old bazaar below. The remains are not heavily restored, but the position over the Polog valley makes the climb worthwhile.
Go for the view and the sense of the city in its mountain setting. The fortress works best in clear weather, and it pairs naturally with Popova Shapka or other outings into the Shar Mountains.
