The Monastery of Saint George is one of the religious sites in the hills around Tetovo, where Orthodox, Islamic, and Ottoman-era heritage sit close together. Its setting gives it much of its appeal, with the city below and the mountain landscape rising behind.
It is a quiet stop rather than a heavily interpreted monument. Go respectfully, dress modestly, and consider it part of the wider Tetovo story that also includes the Painted Mosque, Arabati Baba Tekke, and the routes into the Sar Mountains.
