Old Bridge on the Ribnica (Adžipaša's Bridge)

The Old Bridge on the Ribnica is the oldest surviving bridge in Podgorica, a small stone arch spanning the narrow Ribnica river near its confluence with the Morača. It sits in the Stara Varoš quarter, just south of the clock tower, and dates to Ottoman times — probably the 17th or 18th century.

The bridge is small and unassuming, but it's a genuine historical fragment in a city that lost most of its old architecture to bombing and postwar development. The riverbank here is pleasant, with ducks on the Ribnica and views up toward the taller modern Morača bridges to the north.

A story
The bridge takes its name from Adži-Paša Osmanagić, an 18th-century Ottoman administrator who had it built or repaired — local historians debate which. It is the oldest bridge in Podgorica, crossing the Ribnica river a few metres before it empties into the Morača.
