The Cat Cabinet, or KattenKabinet, is a small museum devoted to cats in art, set inside a restored canal house. It began as a tribute to the founder's favourite cat and has grown into a collection of paintings, posters, sculptures, and cat-related curiosities.
The setting is half the pleasure: polished rooms, old-house atmosphere, and the odd feeling that you are visiting a private home as much as a museum. It is a fun change of pace from Amsterdam's larger art collections.
