Molen de Roos is Delft's surviving city windmill, a reminder that the pretty canal town was once also a place of flour, trade, and practical machinery. It stands near the western edge of the historic centre, close enough to fold into a canal walk.
When open, it is worth going inside for the timber structure and the view back over Delft's roofs and church towers. Even from outside, the mill gives the city a useful change of scale after the Markt, the Oude Kerk, and the Vermeer associations.
