Narvik is a town built around its harbour, its iron-ore terminal, and the mountains that drop straight into the fjord behind it. The big draws are outdoors — alpine skiing in winter, hiking and the midnight sun in summer — supplemented by some of the most important World War II sites in Norway. The cable car up Narvikfjellet is the easiest way to get the lay of the land.
