Rampestreken Viewpoint

A cantilevered viewing platform high above Åndalsnes

The Rampestreken is a striking steel-and-wood platform that juts out over the edge of Nesaksla, the mountain directly above Åndalsnes. From the deck you look straight down on the town, the river mouth, and the fjord stretching off to the west. The whole Romsdalen valley unfolds in the other direction with the Trolltindene and Romsdalshornet on the horizon.

You reach it on foot — about 90 minutes of steep walking from the town centre via a path that climbs roughly 540 metres through forest and rock. The trail is well marked and uses stone steps in the steepest sections, but it is hard work and not a casual stroll. The alternative is the Romsdalen Gondola, which lifts you to the top of Nesaksla in five minutes; the platform is then a short walk down the ridge.
