Vår Frelsers Cemetery

Vår Frelsers Cemetery is Oslo's most famous burial ground, a quiet green space just north of the centre. Edvard Munch and Henrik Ibsen are buried here, along with many other major Norwegian writers, artists, politicians, and public figures.

The cemetery is also worth a slow walk for its sculpture, old trees, and setting beside Gamle Aker Church, the oldest surviving building in Oslo. It is easy to combine with Grünerløkka, St. Hanshaugen, or the walk back toward Karl Johans gate.
