Tucked into the buildings of the former Kościuszko steelworks, the Museum of Metallurgy tells the story of the iron and steel industry that built Chorzów. Founded in 1834 as the Königshütte ironworks, the plant ran for nearly two centuries before closing in the 2010s — its furnaces, foundries, and railways were the city's reason for being.
The museum holds working machinery, archive films, photos, and tools from the long industrial age. It is small and slightly austere, in the typical Silesian industrial-heritage style, but for anyone curious about why the region looks and feels the way it does, it is one of the better places to start.
