A short drive west of Armacao, the headland at Nossa Senhora da Rocha carries a small white fort and an even smaller medieval chapel. The chapel is one of the oldest religious buildings on the Algarve coast — parts of it pre-date the Portuguese reconquest.
The setting is the draw: the headland projects out between two cliff-cut beaches, with a natural sea arch and a row of weathered limestone stacks visible offshore. Walk out to the tip for the long view east over the bay.
