Praia de Armacao de Pera

The main beach is a wide, gently shelving arc of pale sand that stretches for kilometres west from the village. It is one of the longest continuous sand beaches on the Algarve and, unlike the cliff coves on either side, it is fully accessible from the seafront promenade.

Lifeguards are on duty from June through September. Sun beds and umbrellas can be hired from the eastern stretch in front of the resort; the western end, harder to reach by foot, stays markedly quieter. The water is cold by Mediterranean standards but warmer than the open Atlantic further west.
