Nevsky Prospekt is St Petersburg's main thoroughfare, stretching 4.5 km from the Admiralty to the Alexander Nevsky Monastery. It is lined with an extraordinary concentration of architectural landmarks: the Kazan Cathedral, the Singer House (House of Books), the Stroganov Palace, Gostiny Dvor, the Anichkov Bridge with its famous horse sculptures, and dozens more.
Three waterways cross it — the Moyka, the Fontanka, and the Griboedov Canal — each crossing offering a different perspective on the city. Walking the full length is one of the best ways to get a feel for St Petersburg. The stretch between the Admiralty and Fontanka is the most architecturally dense.
