Raskolnikov House

Raskolnikov House is a literary pilgrimage stop for readers of Dostoevsky's Crime and Punishment. The building is marked as the fictional home of Rodion Raskolnikov, whose feverish walk through this part of St Petersburg gives the novel much of its claustrophobic power.

There is not much to "do" here beyond stand in the street and connect the place to the book. But that is the point: around Sennaya, Petersburg becomes less imperial and more cramped, anxious, and human, just as Dostoevsky wrote it.
