Anichkov Palace

Anichkov Palace is an 18th-century palace on Nevsky Prospekt near the Fontanka, named for the nearby Anichkov Bridge. Built for Empress Elizabeth and later remodelled in neoclassical taste, it is one of the key aristocratic buildings along the city's main avenue.

The palace is best appreciated as part of a Nevsky Prospekt walk, with the bridge, Fabergé Museum, Alexandrinsky Theatre, and other central sights close by.
