Ploschad Bortsov Revolutsy is Vladivostok's central square and one of the easiest places to feel the city at street level. Its huge Soviet-era monument honours the fighters for Soviet power in the Far East, a reminder of how remote and contested this corner of Russia once was.
The square is also a practical orientation point. It sits close to museums, the waterfront, and the main streets, and it is a good place to pause and watch local life between more formal sights.
