Tokarevsky Lighthouse

Slender lighthouse at the tip of Egersheld, reached by a tidal spit with wide views of Vladivostok.

Tokarevsky Lighthouse is one of Vladivostok's classic edge-of-the-map sights. It stands at the end of a narrow spit off Egersheld, where the city, the Bosphorus strait, Russky Island, and open water all seem to pull in different directions. The walk out is short but memorable when the sea is calm.

Check tide and weather before going, because the spit can be wet, icy, or exposed to wind. The lighthouse itself is modest, but the setting does the work: ships moving through the harbour approaches, gulls overhead, and Vladivostok's hilly skyline behind you. Sunset is especially good if conditions are safe.
