Piran's Maritime Museum occupies a 19th-century palace on the seafront and tells the story of this coast's long relationship with the Adriatic. The collection covers local fishing, salt production, and Venetian trade, with navigational instruments, model ships, and period maps. The building itself — with its painted ceilings and sea-facing windows — is as much a reason to visit as the exhibits. Open Tuesday to Sunday; closed Mondays.
