Carmen de los Martires is one of Granada's loveliest pauses near the Alhambra, a 19th-century garden laid out with terraces, ponds, shaded paths, and views back toward the city. It has the enclosed, slightly secret feeling that makes a carmen different from an ordinary park.
The garden is especially good after the intensity of the Nasrid Palaces, when you want space and greenery without leaving the hill. Allow time to wander rather than ticking off features: the charm is in the changing views, the water, and the sudden quiet just above busy Granada.
