Plaza de Toros

1882 bullring in neo-Mudéjar brick, east of the old town.

Jaén's bullring sits on the eastern edge of the old town, built in 1882 in a neo-Mudéjar style of red brick and horseshoe arches. It holds about 9,000 and is one of the older provincial rings still in regular use.

Even if bullfighting is not your interest (and it is increasingly contested in Spain), the building itself is worth a look from the outside. Bullfights happen mainly during the San Lucas fair in mid-October and on the feast day of San Juan in June.
