Málaga–Costa del Sol Airport (AGP) is the busiest airport in Andalusia and the fourth-busiest in Spain, with year-round low-cost connections to most major European cities. It sits 8 km southwest of the city. The Cercanías suburban train (line C-1) runs every 20–30 minutes from the airport to the central María Zambrano station and on to Torremolinos and Fuengirola; the journey to the city centre takes 12 minutes and costs around €2. The number A express bus is a slower alternative.
By rail, the AVE high-speed train connects Málaga to Madrid in 2.5 hours, Córdoba in under an hour, and Sevilla in around two and a half hours. The bus station next to María Zambrano runs services to every town in the province and to Granada, Sevilla, and along the entire Costa del Sol.
By road, the AP-7 toll motorway and parallel A-7 follow the coast east and west; the A-45 climbs north over the mountains to Antequera and on to Córdoba.
