Málaga's main shopping street is Calle Marqués de Larios, a marble-paved pedestrian boulevard running from the Alameda to Plaza de la Constitución, lined with mid-range Spanish chains, international brands, and the city's Christmas-light spectacle in December. The big department store El Corte Inglés is a few blocks west on Avenida de Andalucía.
For something more interesting, head to the Mercado Central de Atarazanas — a 19th-century iron-and-glass market hall built around the surviving Moorish gate of the old shipyard, with stalls of fish, jamón, olives, and spices, plus a row of tapas counters where you can eat what you have just bought. The lanes around the Soho district have small design shops and independent galleries, while the SoHo flea market on the second Sunday of each month is good for vintage and craft.
