Platja de S'Arenal

The Platja de S'Arenal is the long, wide sandy beach that defines the resort. It runs westward along the Bay of Palma, merging with the Playa de Palma beach to form a combined strip of around seven kilometres — one of the longest in the Balearics. The sand is fine and pale, the water shallow and calm, and the beach cleaned by machine every morning throughout the season.

The seafront promenade runs the full length, wide enough for cyclists and pedestrians to coexist without friction. Sun lounger and parasol rental is available along most of the beach; the section nearest the sailing club at the eastern end tends to be a fraction quieter than the stretch in front of the main hotel zone. Pedal boats, kayak rental, and water sports concessions operate from May to October.

A story
The beach's Blue Flag status dates back to 1987 — the first year the scheme operated in Spain — making it one of the original certified beaches in the country. The designation requires daily water quality testing, lifeguard presence, and controlled access points, standards that the town has maintained almost continuously for nearly four decades.
