Isla de Lobos is a small, almost entirely uninhabited volcanic islet just two kilometres from Corralejo, accessible by boat in about ten minutes. The entire islet is a nature reserve and visitor numbers are limited by permit — you cannot simply show up — so book your boat from Corralejo harbour in advance. What you get for the effort is a rare thing in the Canary Islands: genuine quiet, striking volcanic landscape, and crystal-clear water for snorkelling.
A circular walking trail (about 5km) takes you around the islet and up to the small lighthouse on the volcanic cone. The single beach on the south side has outstanding water visibility. The only building on the island besides the lighthouse is a small beach bar that serves drinks and simple food. There is no accommodation. Most visitors arrive in the morning and return in the afternoon, which means the middle of the day is relatively uncrowded. Come prepared with sun protection and water.
