Costa Brava

Catalonia's rugged "wild coast" — pine-backed coves, whitewashed fishing towns, and Dalí's Cadaqués.

The Costa Brava, the "wild coast", runs up the Catalan shore from north of Barcelona to the French border. Unlike the flat costas to the south, here the Pyrenees meet the sea in a jagged line of coves, cliffs, and pine, dotted with whitewashed towns. Cadaqués, where Dalí lived, is the most beautiful; Tossa de Mar has a walled medieval headland; and Roses and Sant Feliu de Guíxols anchor the resort stretches.
