Temple Bruer Preceptory

Surviving tower of a Knights Templar preceptory in the countryside south of Lincoln.

Temple Bruer Preceptory is a rare Knights Templar survival in rural Lincolnshire, represented today mainly by a stark stone tower. The fragment is modest in size, but the association is strong: this was once one of the Templars' important English estates, controlling farmland and resources rather than guarding a romantic castle.

It makes sense as a short countryside detour from Lincoln for travellers interested in medieval religious orders. The isolation is part of the atmosphere, and the remaining tower is enough to make the lost complex legible if you arrive with a little historical context.
