Middleton Railway is a short heritage railway in south Leeds with steam and diesel trains. Founded in 1758 to carry coal, it is often described as the world's oldest continuously working public railway.
The ride is only about a mile, but the industrial history is strong enough to make it a worthwhile family or railway-history stop outside the city centre.
