Hectors has been a Stockbridge institution for years, occupying a corner site in the village centre. The menu runs all day: proper breakfasts with good coffee, lunch dishes that are seasonal and fairly priced, weekend brunches that attract queues of local residents. Nothing is especially ambitious but everything is done well — the food is honest, the room is relaxed, and the service has the easy familiarity of a place that knows its neighbourhood. Good for a slow weekend morning or a simple lunch between exploring the Water of Leith and the Sunday market.
