Freeport's activities are split between the water and the natural environment. The coral reef offshore offers superb diving and snorkelling — clear water, tropical fish, underwater tunnels and caves. Fishing charters operate from most marinas, targeting reef fish (yellowtail, grouper, snapper) and deep-water game fish (tuna, marlin, sailfish). Lucayan National Park is the most rewarding natural sight: underground cave systems, six distinct ecosystems, kayaking through mangroves, and coastal forest. The Rand Nature Center near downtown is good for birding and a gentle nature walk.
